The End of this Blog, Moving on to the New!

Hi everybody.
I know i've been away for a long time, and I feel like I should explain myself!

Throughout the life of this blog i've been doing Atkins and the Dukan diet on and off. I've had mixed success, losing lots of weight in the first week, then finding that they weight loss dwindled to 0.5/1 pound a week.
This was extremely demoralising and I just found that I couldn't stick to the diets.
I was in Turkey at the end of last month, and sitting by the beach wearing a cover up watching girls wandering around in bikini's, i thought 'enough is enough'. When I was about to get on the plane to come home, a flight attendant stopped me and said 'are you pregnant?' I was so shocked and just said no, but it was a real crushing thing to hear!

So i've decided to join Lighter Life
I know people have mixed feelings on the diet, but for me I know it can work as it will remove the temptation of food, and i'll lose weight quickly. The first stage lasts 14 weeks and average weight loss is 3/3.5 stones which would be fantastic! I started the diet today and it's going well so far.

I've started a new blog Hannah's Lighter Life as this blog brings back some bad memories and I want to have a fresh start. So I hope you will continue to follow me on my new blog :)

The Election

Apologies, i've been really slack at updating recently, and the reason is the election!
I get really, really into politics so it's kind of taken my life over at the moment.

I'm a labour supporter, purely because I believe that everyone should have the chance to go to university, therefore to me labour's cap on uni fees makes sense, and the conservatives plan to scrap the cap does not. I also don't appreciate that the conservatives will take away the right for everyone suspected to have cancer to see a specialist within 2 weeks. Cancer is literally deadly, and time makes a world of difference. What Gordon Brown has done for the NHS really is impressive at it would be a shame for Cameron to ruin it.

There are many more reasons i've voted labour, but this is a diet blog not a politics blog! It's 4.37am and i'm watching the results come in, at the moment it looks like it's going to be a hung parliament which really isn't ideal but who knows what will happen in the next few hours. I'm just annoyed at a lot of my friends who voted for Cameron, simply because they don't like Gordon Brown. It's silly, you should vote for the party you believe in, not the person you like the most.

Rant over!

Went spinning this morning which was fun as haven't been for ages, but then had pad thai for dinner...bad times!

The Hunt is over!

Miracles of miracles today I went to the gym (finally got my gym membership back, woo!)
And there is a big tescos next to the gym so decided to pop in. Managed to scrape a pounds worth of change from in and around my car and found outbran!

I really want to make Dukan Pancakes

Ingredients:
1 Egg
2 tbsp Oat Bran
2 tbsp Fromage Frais
1 tbsp Wheat Bran

Instructions:
1) Mix the ingredients together in a bowl. If the mixture is too stiff, add a couple of teaspoons of skim milk.
2) Add a couple of drops of light oil to a frying pan. Wipe off the oil with a sheet of paper kitchen towel.
3) Spread the mixture in the pan.
4) Cook on a medium heat until the underside is golden and the upper side starts to dry.
5) Flip the pancake and cook the other side.

Recipe from MyDukanDiet.com

Just need to get fromage frais as didnt have enough money to get it in tescos! Will post photos of the results :)

The Hunt for Oatbran

Where does everyone buy oatbran???
I read lots of Dukan Diet blogs and all the recipes include oatbran but i've searched high and low at my local supermarkets but can't seem to find the stuff. I could order it online but would be handy to know where to buy it...

Anybody have any suggestions?

Dukan Diet Day 13

Ok, I know i've skipped from day 6 to 13 but will explain all!

On Thursday I travelled from Manchester to Wokingham (my home) with two friends as we were going to visit Thorpe Park.
On Thursday night we went out for dinner with my parents, on Friday we went to Thorpe Park then on Saturday we had a BBQ and drove back up North. So in general, food wise I didn't have the best weekend! But i'm ok with it, because i've realised that the Dukan Diet isn't necessarily a diet, for me it's more of a lifestyle change. I may slip up here and there but as long as I get back on track i'll lose the weight eventually.

So today I woke up and went to Sainsburys, stocked up on ham and yoghurts and have had a good day today. I'll weigh myself tomorrow and I know I will have gained some weight, but i'll be back on track to do well this week. Think i'm going to go back to the 'attack' phase, just to get back into the swing of things as I actually find it easier not having to cook veg! I bought some lovely lamb steaks and am looking forward to dinner!

So today i've eaten
Breakfast: Yoghurt
Lunch: Ham and Chicken slices
Dinner: Lamb Steak

Dukan Diet Day 6

So i've been on the 'attack' phase of the Dukan diet for 6 days, according to the Dukan Diet website i was meant to do it for 2 days but that seemed really short, so I doubled it to 4 days, but after 4 days I decided just to keep going till today and to start the next phase on Monday as it made sense to me to start the new phase on a new week!

So it's been 6 days.

How am I feeling?
In general it has been quite easy! Since i've only been able to eat meat, yoghurt and eggs it's been limited, but I find it easier to no carbs than any at all, thats why this diet has been working for me so far as I like it to be strict!

Any side effects?
On day 5 I completely crashed, was just exhausted and felt a bit spaced out. But had a good nights sleep and feel better now, think it was a combination of the diet and having a really busy week due to uni work.

Any slips ups?
The biggest problem i'm having is alcohol, as i'm at uni so drinking is a large part of our social life! But i'm trying to cut down, and I asked Katrina of Glammed Up how she deals with it and she responded...
'Fortunately for me I’m not much of a drinker, but I still got drinks offered very often. For me it’s buying a diet coke and not talking about it. People won’t notice that it’s a Diet Coke not a vodka+coke. If they don’t know, they won’t pay attention to it and you won’t get “why aren’t you drinking?” questions'

If only I still drank diet coke! But I quit drinking it as I used to be a little addicted, drinking 5 cans a day. But i'm going to try and find an alternative, wish bars stocked diet sprite but it's not quite as popular here as it is in america. So if anyone has any alternatives to diet coke let me know!

What i've eaten today
Breakfast- Yoghurt
Lunch- Smoked salmon and chicken.
Dinner- probably a Steak.

Am still trying to find oatbran, so hopefully i'll be adding that into my diet next week. There's a few places to order it online but might try Tesco's first.

Am quite excited to weigh myself tomorrow, hopefully i've lost some weight! If not I know i'll be really dissapointed but will just have to wait and see. The average loss according to the dukan website is 2-4ibs, so hopefully i'll be round the 101kg mark.

Am looking forward to being able to go back to the gym next month, as froze my membership for April as was home for easter.
